Michael E. Shanks, 63, died Sunday in his home.
He was born in Marion to the late Lawrence 'Bud' and Edna (Cox) Shanks. He married Christy L.Davis on March 30, 2001. She survives. Michael retired from Active Products and was formerly employed in maintanence with Prestwick Square Apartments. He loved his Harley and was a member of "HOG" and Sons of American Legion Post 10. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, playing pool and NASCAR, He formerly played softball for Calvary Baptist Church and was a member of the Victory Lanes Thursday Night Bowling League.
Survivors include his wife, Christy L. Shanks, Marion; daughters, Shelley (Michael) Moore, Marion, Melissa (Karen Whitted) Shugart, Marion, Heather Rae Shanks, S.C.; son, Roger (Malissa) Shanks, Marion; 12 grandchildren and one expected in December, 4 great grandchildren; sisters, Patty (John) Stebbens, Marion, Cindy (Jeff) Overmyer, Marion, brothers, Gary (Marg) Shanks, Gas City, Dave (Theresa) Shanks, Matthews, Denny (Diane) Shanks, Marion, Tony (Sharon) Shanks, Marion, Bradley Shanks, Gas City, mother-in-law: Debbye (Wayne Ashmore) Davis, Swayzee, father-in-law, Melvin (Carol) Davis, Marion, brothers-in-law, Scott (Gemia) Davis and daughter, Fairmount, and Todd Davis, Castleton.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael E. Shanks, Jr. and parents, Bud and Edna Shanks.
Services were Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008 at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service North Chapel, Marion, Ind. Burial was made in Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
