Elizabeth B. Francis, 102, peacefully passed away on January 31, 2013 in Waterford Place Health Care, Kokomo, Indiana. Mrs. Francis was born on June 9, 1910 in Converse, Indiana to the late Luther R. and Delpha (Jay) Gift.

Mrs. Francis lived most of her life in Converse and moved for a brief amount of time to Kokomo for one year and then to Tipton for 6 months.


She was a 1929 graduate of Converse High School. On December 6, 1930 she married Howard M. Francis. He preceded her in death on August 15, 1998. Mrs. Francis was a devout and active member of Converse United Methodist Church where she was the church historian and served on the administrative board. She was also a past president of United Methodist Women and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a75 year member and Past Matron of Eastern Star. In her free time she enjoyed her membership in the Converse ESO Reading Club, crafts, gardening and working on projects.


Mrs. Francis is survived by seven grandchildren, Scott H. Brown, Converse; Holly M. (George) Bellamy, Kokomo; Michael J. (Karen) Duncan, Dunlap, Illinois; Elizabeth S. (Tony) LePere, Westfield, IN,; Debra (Brad) Eccles, Jasonville, IN.; Gregory (Michelle) Duncan, Noblesville, David J. (Sarah) Duncan, Indianapolis,; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren


She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Shonnie D. Brown and Avalyn S. Jones;


Mrs. Francis was the youngest of six siblings, whom all precede her in death.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, February 4, 2013 in the Converse United Methodist Church, 109 East Wabash, Converse, Indiana with Pastor Don Bremerman officiating. Mrs. Francis will be interred immediately following services in Converse Cemetery, Converse Cemetery.
