George Wilson Duesler: Second son of Benjamin & Lydia. Born near Fremont, IN, moved when small child to Hillsdale Co, MI. Captured in Civil War at Athens, AL on 24 Sep 1862 and paroled at Vicksburg, MS about 15 Mar 1865 and pensioned in 1865. Was one of the survivors of the destruction of the steamer Sultana. Married and located near Donovan, IL in 1871. Was a farmer. Twice married. Died in Donovan, Iroquois, IL.

US Civil War Records show Geo. W. Duesler enlisted in Hillsdale, MI on 7/31/1862 age 18 as a private. Went to Co. D, Michigan 18th Infantry Regiment on 8/26/1862 Mustered out on 6/7/1865 at Detroit, MI.
