CANADIAN — Clara Sarrels Greene, 100, of Canadian died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Jim Pollard officiating. Inurnment will be in Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian.

Clara was born Nov. 26, 1912, in Blue, Okla., to Horace G. Sarrels and Cue Vee Dial Sarrels. She attended schools in Blue and Hatcher, Okla. She married J.D. Greene on Jan. 21, 1936, in Sayre, Okla. He preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 1989. They moved to the Gem City community in 1938 from Sayre, Okla., where they farmed and ranched. Clara was known for her gardening, lemon meringue pies and tatting. She was a great land conservationist and enjoyed watching women's basketball on television.

She also was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Ralph and H.G. Sarrels.

Survivors include her daughters, Jan'et Schaef and husband Joe and Suzanne Anderson and husband Stuart, all of Canadian; a sister, Faye Pearcy of Odessa; four grandchildren, Tammy Pollard and husband Greg of Kansas City, Mo., Todd Schaef and wife Heather of West Richland, Wash., Toby Schaef and wife Elizabeth of Lubbock and Derek Anderson and wife Janssen of Frisco; and nine great-grandchildren, Claire and Spencer Schaef, both of West Richland, Jacob, Ian and Wyatt Schaef, all of Lubbock, Jackson Anderson of Frisco, and Whitney, Maddie and Matt Pollard, all of Kansas City.

The family suggests memorials be to Hemphill County Library, 500 Main St., Canadian, TX 79014; or River Valley Pioneer Museum, 118 N. Second St., Canadian, TX 79014.
