Harold F. "Hap" Gentzler, 71, of West Manchester Twp., died peacefully at 2:10 a.m. on Monday, December 18, 2006 at York Hospital.
The funeral service to remember and celebrate his life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Irwin Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, with the Rev. Dennis L. Weidler, pastor of St. Paul's UCC in Stoverstown, officiating. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
He will be laid to rest in St. Paul's Union Cemetery in Stoverstown. Harold was born October 7, 1935 in N. Codorus Twp., a son of the late Melvin C. and Beulah V. (Lau) Gentzler. Mr. Gentzler was employed for 35 years as an assembler for Cole Steel in York and continued working for ten years as a laborer for Pfaltzgraff, retiring in 2001. Hap graduated from Spring Grove Area High School with the class of 1953. Hap was an avid sports fan and enthusiastic follower of auto racing.
He will be sadly missed by his son, Harold F. Gentzler, Jr. of York; his daughter, Rhonda A. Dunlap of Windsor; a grandson, Kyle Dunlap, also of Windsor; two brothers, Nevin Gentzler of Stoverstown, and Stanley Gentzler of Orange County, Calif.; a sister, Fay Herman of Stoverstown; several nieces and a nephews. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Gentzler to St. Paul's UCC, 2173 Stoverstown Rd., Spring Grove, PA 17362.
