Norma Elizabeth Smith, 84, of Vernon, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Tuesday, February 5, at First Baptist Church of Vernon with Pastor Kelly Russell presiding followed by internment at Eastview Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6-8PM on Monday, February 4, at Sullivan Funeral Home.

Norma, the youngest daughter of eleven children, was born August 24, 1928, in Vernon to Frank and Ella Crain Dennis. She and her siblings were reared in Odell, Texas. Norma married Guinn Bourland Smith of Vernon in 1945. Her husband, parents and nine of her siblings predeceased her. She is survived by her three sons,Gearl Donald "Don", and his wife JoAnn of Mansfield,Dan Ray "Danny", and his wife, Linda, of Arlington, and Larry Dennis, and his wife, Kim, of Waco. Norma is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Tommy Dennis of Houston and a niece who was more like a sister to her,
Betty Waggoner, of Vernon. Additionally, she was blessed with many other loving nieces, nephews and relatives many who reside in the Vernon community.

Norma was devoted to her family and friends. She loved the Vernon community and her First Baptist Church family, where she and Guinn invested much of their lives. Her servant spirit and deep faith was evident to anyone who knew her. Norma's positive view of life and what her Lord had planned was an inspiration. She was an encourager who took great pride in her family. Norma also had a passion for her Texas Rangers and Baylor Lady Bears, seldom missing televised games.

Pallbearers will be her nephews, Guinn Doyle Smith of Abilene and Jerry Don Lucas of Vernon along with her grandsons, Kyle Smith of Arlington, Ryan Smith of McKinney, Cody Smith of Waco and Shay Smith of Austin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Vernon, 2003 Fannin St., Vernon, TX 76384.
