Mr. Joe C. Stanley, 87, a native and resident of Shubuta, died Friday, February 1, 2013 at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church; served in the U. S. Navy, was a veteran of WWII and Korean Conflict; had worked as an electrician in Shipbuilding. Mr. Stanley is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Stanley; parents, Grady and Vardie Stanley; daughter, Tindra Carrie Stanley; 2 brothers, E. G. Stanley and Chester "Buster" Stanley; sister, Katherine Davis. He is survived by 2 daughters, Vannette Tiner (Larry) of Shubuta, Deedee Roberson (Clyde) of Meridian; 2 sisters, Jeanette Walker of Waynesboro, Mary Ann Thomas of Laurel; 2 grandsons, Christopher Smith (Brandy) of Shubuta, Jody Smith (Lorie) of Shubuta, granddaughter, Heather Hollingsworth (Harold) of Meridian; 5 great grandchilden, Morgan Smith, Layne Smith, Donovan Smith, Matheson Hollingsworth, and Ian Smith; special friends, Mack and Frances McGriff. Visitation for Mr. Stanley will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 3, 2013 in the Evergreen Baptist Church in Shubuta. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, February 3, 2013 from the Evergreen Baptist Church. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
