Homer D. owned Acklen's Barber shop in Minden, LA. Divorced from Jackie Thornton, mother of their three children, Charley, Debra and Janice. Other survivors are his brothers L. P. of Texas City, TX, J. E. "Shorty" of League City, TX, William "Bill" of Baton Rouge, LA, and J.J. "Jim" Acklen of Houston, TX. His sisters; Marie Moorehead of Minden, LA, and Mary Lou Lilly of Romulus, MI.

1942... Homer D. is in suit with dark tie with stripes, 2nd from left in three pictures.

Family saying goodbye to Louis, Homer D.'s youngest brother (tallest in picture), as he was leaving for active duty on a ship. He was killed March 1, 1943, when a torpedo hit on top of him on his ship. All other crew members were saved and escaped injury.
