Mass of Christian Burial for John M. Krug, 86, of Mott, ND will be Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Regent, ND. Fr. Charles Zins will officiate and burial will follow at the Regent Cemetery. Visitations will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4 at the Evanson Jensen Funeral Home in Mott and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday afternoon at the church. A Wake service will be at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Regent.
John Michael Krug was born on June 30, 1926 to Michael and Mary (Gillenburg) Krug in Taylor, ND and was raised south of there. He attended the Eagle #1 Country School for 6 years then 2 years in Taylor. He quit school to help on the family farm. In 1946 the family purchased a farm northwest of Regent where John worked for various farmers and helped at home.
John was united in marriage to Florenece Lillian Kouba in a triple wedding with her brother, Charles and a sister, Mildred on September 13, 1948. They had three children, Sharon, Curtis and Judy.
John worked at the Regent Co-op store from 1957 to 1966 in the hardware and meat department. He opend Krug's Processing in Mott, operating it until 1975. John also worked for the ASCS and Mosher Ford until his retirement in 1988.
He lost his wife of 37 years in 1985 and remarried in 1986 to Margie (Krough) Gordon. They had 21 years together and enjoyed traveling, fishing and dancing. Margie passed away in 2007.
John's hobbies throughout the years included fishing, hunting, bowling, golf and woodworking. He was a member of the Mott Golf Association, the Knights of Columbus Council #2826 and the Eagles Club.
John Krug passed away on Friday, February 1, 2013 at the West River Regional Medical Center in Hettinger, ND.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his daughter, Judy (Ray) Schiwal, Mott, ND; his brothers, Mike (Evelyn) Krug, Wahpeton, ND and Joe (Jan) Krug, Washington; his sisters, Liz Rohr, Dickinson, ND, Eleanor Honeyman, Hettinger, ND and Frances (Fred) Marshall, Washington; his step children, Clayton (Laura)Gordon, Mark (Becky) Gordon, Michelle (Perry) Finck and Todd Gordon; his grandchildren, Christopher (Dawn) Thie, Corey (Krissy) Thie, Tesha (Jeremy) Jahner, Branden (Nicole) Schiwal and Kelsey Zent; his 9 great grandchildren, Addison and Aiden Thie, Eden and Caden Thie, Madison, Bailey and Ava Jahner, Abby and Cooper Schiwal; 11 step grandchildren and one step great grandson.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wife, his son, Curtis, daughter, Sharon, two brothers, Nick and Louis and a sister, Mary.
