Veronica A. Sobieck, age 85 of Little Falls, MN, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011 at the Maple Manor Care Center in Rochester, MN.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 28, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nick Landsberger officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Sunday and 10:30 A.M - 12:00 P.M. Monday at Emblom Brenny Funeral Service in Little Falls. Parish prayers will be said at 5:30 P.M. Sunday evening at the funeral chapel.

Veronica Anne Wehseler was born May 20, 1926, in Avon, Stearns County, MN to the late William and Josephine (Karsch) Wehseler. She grew up in Royalton, MN and graduated from Royalton High School in 1944. Veronica was united in marriage to Raymond L. Sobieck on October 25, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Royalton. She worked at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls as a nurses aid and home health care worker. Ronnie (as her family called her) always wanted a better life for her children. She knew that education was the key to that better life and she encouraged all four of her children to attend college or a trade school, which all of them did. She always said when cooking pork… "You must respect the pork". When she cooked chicken, it always fell off the bones. Her favorite food was a "Blizzard" from Dairy Queen. Veronica loved magazines, reading, polka music, baking (her poppy seed cakes were the best around), playing cards with her grandchildren, and watching Wheel of Fortune. She always knew the answers before the contestants. Veronica loved praying the rosary and had a deep and abiding faith in God.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Raymond "Chuck" (Gayle) Sobieck of Longboat Key, FL, Walter (Glenda) Sobieck of St. Michael, MN and Linda Schrandt of Rochester, MN; brother Henry (Florence) Wehseler of Little Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Veronica was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, infant son, Michael, daughter, Lori Sobieck Fritts; son-in-law, Kevin Schrandt; sisters, Marie Rushmeyer and Elizabeth Fite and a brother, Ervin Wehseler.

In lieu of flowers, Veronica's family requests memorials to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
