Robert was born Dec. 12, 1926 in West, the son of Allen and Gracie (Greenhill) Busby.
He attended West Elementary and West High School.
He served his country with the United States Army during World War II.
On January 12, 1948 he was united in marriage to Cora Lee "Huffy" Huffstutler. Huffy preceded him in death on March 14, 1982. He was then united in marriage to Norma Jane Motis in 1987 in West.
Robert and Huffy owned and operated the Busby Grocery Store in West for many years before retiring in 1984.
He was a lifelong and faithful member of the West Church of Christ.
He was also a former member and president of the West Chamber of Commerce and a member of the West Kiwanis Club. Robert enjoyed fishing and being a WalMart greeter after his retirement. He especially loved being with family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert A. Busby Jr.; a daughter, Denise Busby; a brother, Dick Busby; and sisters, Willie Lois Patterson and Helen Penland.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Busby of San Angelo; a daughter, Sheryl Porter and husband, Dennis; a sister-in-law, Jackie Busby; grandchildren, DeLayne Chudej and husband, David, Darla Gerik and husband, Troy, Tracy Busby, Jaime Bates, Keith Porter and Troy Porter; great grandchildren, Matt, Nathan, Cameron, Dylan, Chelsea, Zayn, Collin and Jacob; great great grandchildren, Aydon and Paisley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
