Leeartin "Leon" Carter Sr.
LORAIN - Leeartin "Leon" Carter Sr. (Soul Brother No. 1) C.B. Handle, 66, of Lorain passed away peacefully in the New Life Hospice Lorain, January 27, 2013 following a long illness.
He was born in Louisville, Mississippi, in the 1950's he relocated to Lorain.
Mr. Carter worked at the Ford Motor Company Avon plant, as a relief man and retired after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lorain, and also a member of the Seven Traveler's Gospel Singing Group. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan. In the 1970's, 1980's he was always talking on his C.B. with the handle of Soul Brother #1, he also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters: Jeanette R. Carter and LaShonda Carter both of Lorain; Sons: Leon D. Carter (Rebecca) of Lorain, Al Riggins of Elyria, and Leeartin Carter Jr. (Tonya) of Lorain; his companion of 6 years Norma J. Trice of Lorain; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; sisters: Luretha "Lodie" Carter, Marline Carter both of Louisville, Mississippi, Jeanette Carter, Annette Carter, and Rosetta Carter-Bailey all of Lorain; brothers: Jessie Carter Jr. of Chicago Ill., Matthew "Mike" Carter (Carolyn), Ricky Carter, both of Lorain, and Clyde Carter of Columbus, Ohio; special nephew: Calvin Carter; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Jessie W. and Bridie Carter; Brothers: Games Winford Carter, and Calvin "Kool" Carter Sr.; and nephew: Kevin "Demet" Carter.
Friends may call Monday, February 4, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. in the Friendship Baptist Church 2160 Reeves Ave, Lorain Ohio. Rev. John Jackson will officiate, burial in Elmwood Cemetery Lorain, Ohio.
