Funeral services for Edgar Leon "Ed" Smith Jr., 81, of Fredericksburg, will be held at Emory United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, with Rev. David Diller officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Mineola.
Mr. Smith died Sunday, Feb. 13, at his residence in Fredericksburg.
He was born March 4, 1923, in Emory to Edgar Leon and Evie Lea Cook Smith.
He married Betty Ann McGarity on Jan. 24, 1972, in New Braunfels.
He was a veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Smith of Fredericksburg; step-children, James W. and Lori Peterson of Houston, and Mary K. Saunders of Austin; step-grandchildren, Christyne Ward, Charles Saunders, Sarah Jade Peterson, Gavin Silat Peterson, Broch Taylor Peterson, and Stephnia "Ann" Ward; nieces, Sherry O'Donnel, Ginger Lynch, and Charlotte George; great-nieces and nephews, M'Leicha, Castanya, Shanna-Natsha, Kristy, Christopher, Jason, James Michael and Shannon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Freeman Smith and Dr. Joseph W. Smith; one sister, Erna T. Moore; two nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00.
Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home, Emory, is in charge of the arrangements.
