The Rev. Frederick, age 91, passed away at his Merrill Gardens home Monday morning. He was born in Goodsprings, Ala., on Nov. 28, 1913. He had been a minister of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church for 41 years. He served many churches in the Birmingham and Florence area and had been district superintendent of the Sylacauga, Decatur and Florence districts before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J.O. and Minnie Smith Frederick; sister, Willene F. Stratton; brother, Hoyt A. Frederick; and wife, Ruth Morrow Frederick.
He is survived by daughters, Pat Killen and husband, Henry, Florence, Jane F. Jones and husband, Walter, Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Charles L. Frederick Jr. and wife, Liz, Florence, and R. Steve Frederick and wife, Lynne, Gadsden, Ala.; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Letha Tyler, Adamsville, Ala., and Elaine Perry, Montgomery, Ala.; brother, William W. Frederick, Montgomery, Ala; a number of nieces and nephews.
