Grace C. Petersen, age 90, of Yankton, South Dakota died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton.
Funeral services are 10:00 AM, on Saturday, January 5, 2008, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend Oliver Omanson officiating. Burial will be 12:00 PM in the Presbyterian Cemetery in Avon, South Dakota. Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 PM, on Friday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the funeral.
Pallbearers are Jon Hanson, Mike Lemon, Greg Dangel, Larry Dangel, Jeff Dangel, and Duane Dangel. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Johnson and Clifford Hicks.
Grace was born March 16, 1917, to Dave and Helen (Ackerman) Johnson in Avon, South Dakota. She grew up and attended school in Avon where she worked at the grocery store. She lived her whole life in South Dakota including Lake Andes, Avon, Wagner, Tyndall, and most recently Yankton. While in Yankton she worked at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital until retiring in 1982. She enjoyed making scratchers and many other crafts.
Survivors include her daughter, Violet (Greg) Dangel of Yankton; three grandsons, Larry Dangel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jeff Dangel of Vermillion, South Dakota, and Duane (Karoline) Dangel of Lincoln, Nebraska; six great grandchildren; and niece, Denise (Jon) Hanson of Worthing, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Chester.
