Age 61 of Minooka passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago after a courageous battle with MDS and AML (Leukemia). Born on September 29, 1946 in Iowa the cherished and only son of Millecent (and the late Albert).

Surviving is his beloved wife of 40 years, Phyllis Christensen (nee Phillips). Proud father of Brent (Jessica) of PA, and Sherolyn (Sean) Jennart of WA; daughter-in-law, Dawn of Morris; and his four grandchildren, Samantha, Stephen, Teagan and Corbin.

Preceded in death by his father, Albert; his two sons, Jeffery Daniel and Stephen David. Also his maternal and paternal grandparents; and father and mother-in-law.

Mr. Christensen was an active member of the community and held in high regard, he was a former member of the Channahon Volunteer Fire Department, was a board member of Prairie Trails Credit Union, he was employed by Exxon Mobil and Rick's R.V. Center. For several years he volunteered his time at MCHS and enthusiastically served as part of the "Chain Gang". A veteran of the US Navy, he enjoyed woodworking, watching Nascar Races and tending to his yard work. He will be remembered for graciously extending a helping hand to those in need.

Funeral Services for David L. Christensen will be held on Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Maple Funeral Home at 12:30 PM. Interment Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to leave lasting memorials, the family requests that you please consider the Northwestern Memorial Fund Stem Cell Oncology Unit or the Channahon Fire Department and, PLEASE donate blood. Visitation Sunday, 2 to 7 PM at: The Maple Funeral Home &
Crematorium.
