HAMPTON - Jason Allen Givens, 18, went to his eternal rest on Feb. 26, 1997. A native of Marietta, Ohio, he had been a Peninsula resident for 17 years and was recently a student at the Peninsula Marine Institute.

He had attended Davis Middle School and Bethel High School, and had played football for the Northampton Athletic Association.

Jason is survived by his parents, Crystal and Robert Burger of Newport News; maternal grandparents, William and Cardie Edwards of Hampton; paternal grandmother, Alice Burger of Clifton Forge; brothers, Jonathan Givens and Robert Burger Jr., both of Newport News; godmother, Bonnie Heavener; aunts, uncles, cousins and many loving friends; as well as his fiancee, Crystal Farmer.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Chad Childress. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
