Maureen was born at her family's homeplace in Fentress County, Tenn., to Hige and Rosetta Beaty. She came to Muncie in 1941 adn was employed with Ball Brothers. Two years later she began employment with Acme Lees and worked with that company until its move to Alabama.
She began a career in nursing, a profession to which she was dedicated and which she thoroughly enjoyed, in 1961 as a nurse's aid. She later attended Ball Memorial School of Nursing, graduating at the top of her class in 1965, and immediately began employment with Ball Memorial Hospital as an LPN, retiring in 1976.
Maureen was a member of the Lord's Church and attended Westside Church of Christ in Yorktown for many years.
She is survived by her son, George Ronald Wright (wife-Margaret) of Tampa, Fla.; her daughter, Cheryl S. Harper (husband-DeWayne) of Muncie, with whom she made her home; a granddaughter, Leslie Park of Florida; five grandsons, Douglas and Charles Wright of Florida, and David, Darin and Dustin Harper of Muncie; seven great-grandchildren, and two nieces.
Her husband, Donald E. Buis, died in 1976. Her parents, two brothers, James and Buster Beaty, and three half sisters, also are deceased.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Parson Mortuary with Randy Wood, minister at Lindberg Road Church of Christ, Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Maureen's family will receive friends at the Parson Mortuary Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and a half hour prior to service time on Thursday.
