Charles Elwood Hess, 79, of 12024 Ocean Gateway, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury, Md.

Born Nov. 2, 1926, in Harrisburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Milton and Edith Wiles Hess.

He attended Hagerstown Business College.

He was an administrator for Conrail in the Philadelphia area.

He attended United Methodist Church in Huntingtown, Md.

He was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 in Funkstown, and the Drum and Bugle Corps at Morris Frock American Legion Post 42 in Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margery N. Hess; one daughter, Kay D. Moore of Huntingtown; two granddaughters, Dawn Mingo of Huntingtown, and Elena Chenet of Orlando, Fla.; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William Hess.

Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.
