U.S. physicist, inventor, Aeronautical expert and Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Harvard University. Credited by many with the development of the science of modern architectural acoustics. Dean of Harvard's Graduate School of Applied Science (1906-1915). Accoustical consultant for the design of Boston's Symphony Hall (1900). Provided wartime aeronautical consultations with England, France, Italy and the United States Army Air Corps. Invented a high resolution camera for allied air forces that could distinguish small targets at high altitudes. Also invented a camera that could take pictures of sound waves.
