BEAUFORT - Vivian Manning Smith , widow of Ellison Smith Jr., died July 13, 2003. Island Funeral Home and Crematory, Hilton Head Island, is in charge. A granddaughter of Gov. Richard Manning, she was born in Greenville to Vivian and Adair Manning. A wildlife artist, naturalist and amateur ornithologist, her bird study skins are on display in the Smithsonian Museum. Surviving are her children.
