Elmer Ashford was born in 1914 at North Santiam and spent his childhood and most of his adult life in Oregon. He worked at M&M Plywood, now known as Simpson Timber Co., during World War II. He married Talitha Werth in 1935 in Washington. He pastored Church of God churches in Scio, Redmond, Newberg, Ashland and served as assistant pastor in Charleston, W.V. He was retired and had lived the last six months in Lodi, CA. In addition to his widow, survivors included daughters Carol Spires of Milwaukie, Judy Combs of Charleston, W.V., and son Loren E. Ashford of Concord, CA.
