Mary Lucille Vandergriff, of Falling Water Community, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 30, 2013. She was 92 years old.
Lucille was a lifelong resident of the Falling Water Community and attended Soddy Daisy High School. She was a lifelong member of Falling Water Baptist Church. Lucille loved her family; she enjoyed gardening and her flowers and was a wonderful cook.
The family would like to thank Lucille's caregiver, Jaye Smith of Hixson and the staff and nurses at Hospice of Chattanooga, Briana Keith and Shannon Miller, for the love and care given to Lucille during her sickness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, William Lewis Vandergriff; son, William W. Vandergriff and a great grandson, Jon Kenneth Banks; siblings, Mae Moody, Irene Jackson, Warren, Cecil, Alton, Webster and Robert Moody.
Lucille is survived by her son, Kenny (Elaine) Vandergriff; daughter-in-law, Pat Vandergriff, both of Falling Water; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Doris Walker and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 (noon) to 2:30 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel.
Services for Mary will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday at the North Chapel with Chaplain Dewayne Renfro. Burial will follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lucille's name to Hospice of Chattanooga, P. O. Box 19269, Chattanooga, TN 37416 or www.hospiceofchattanooga.org.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
