DAVID J. SCHMITZ, Loving son of the late George and Janette Schmitz, dear friend of Joanne Gibbons. A man who lived an honorable life. Proudly served as a Sergeant in the US Navy during Vietnam. Passed through this life as a solitary man never complaining about what could have, should have, or would have been. Invictus Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. William Ernest Henley Committal services with full military honors will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at 12:30 PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio. Friends will be received in Celebration of David's Life Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the BOLLINGER-BICAN FUNERAL HOME, 9810 DENISON AVE. www.bicanbros.com
