By endorsement of the Mayflower Society, George is a 6th generation descendent of Thomas Rogers, a passenger on the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower from England to Plymouth.

Son of Peter Walker who served as lieutenant in Capt. Peter Blake's Company, Bristol county brigade in the Revolutionary War. It is interesting to note than information on his death in Taunton Vitals identifies him only as Gooding Walker.

There was some question as to whether George Gooding was in fact the son of Peter and Deborah (Gooding) Walker. This question arose in the process of application for Mayflower Society approval of lineage back to Thomas Rogers. That concern has been removed by finding the will of Peter Walker. George G. was clearly provided with the farm that Peter "...bought of Capt. Rufas Lincoln and all the buildings thereon, with about two acres of land on the South side of the Road opposite to the house he now lives in for an orchard, and three hundred dollars..."

His wife Zilpha is buried here so the presumption is the George is also buried here. The grave has yet to be located in the cemetery but we have not given up on that yet.

Gravesite Details

It is strongly assumed that he was buried in the Burt-Crane-Gulliver-Walker Cemetery, since his father, his mother, his wife, his son (also named George Gooding Walker), and his uncle Edward are buried there, but this still requires confirmation.
