He was a native of Hart County and a member of First Christian Church where he was in the Upper Room Sunday school class. He retired from Eden Fence Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Ann "Bobbi Ann" Thomas; his parents, Homer and Mayme Sullivan Thomas; a stepson-in-law, Roy Brawner; and a stepgranddaughter, Laura Childers Helm.
He is survived by one son, Michael Thomas of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Carla Thomas Davis of Elizabethtown; three stepdaughters, April Brawner of Eastview, Robin Childers Kerrick of Bowling Green and Lisa (Jere Dee) Hopson of Franklin; one sister, Linda Patterson Humes and her husband, Bobby, of Sonora; two granddaughters, Courtney Thomas and Madalyn Davis; one grandson, Kyle Thomas; four stepgrandsons, Todd Thiel, Justin (Shannon) Childers, Michael (Ashley) Kerrick and Connor Hopson; two stepgranddaughters, Angie (Bryan) Nusky and Sydney Hopson; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Brother Chris Kiger officiating. Burial follows in Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and continues at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
