Death of Frank Pettijohn
Had Made Fredonia His Home Forty Two Years
Frank Chales Pettijohn died at his home one mile south of Fredonia, Monday, Novemeber 5, 1923, of Nephritis. Mr. Pettijohn was a native of France and was born at Bellefour, France, April 3, 1845. When ten years of age, he came to America and for a few years lived in Massachusetts, and later in Connecticut. Afterwards he lived in Ohio, for a longer period and there on September 5, 1873 he was married to Sarah Anna Harp.
In 1880 he moved to Fort Smith Arkansas and in 1881 settled in Fredonia, Kansas, where he lived continuously until the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and nine children. His brother, Jules Pettijohn is well-known in Fredonia, another brother, John Claude, lives in Versilles, Ohio and a sister, Mrs. Louise Smith, resides at Deep Creek Washington.
Mr. Pettijohn well remembered the scenes of his early life in France and talked of them in a very interesting way, but he was proud of being a citizen of the United States and appreciated the superior advantages he had enjoyed in rearing his family in the land of his adoption. He was reasonably successful in business and leaves his children the heritage of an honored name.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning, November 7th, conducted by Rev C. O. Wile___ of the Christian Church and burial was made in the Bellview Cemetery in Duck Creek.
