Gospel Preacher listed in Gospel Preachers Who Blazed the Trail by C.R. Nichol, 1911.

On Jan. 3, 1976, the long-worn and battle scarred armor of a valiant Christian soldier was laid aside as one of the last of pioneer gospel preachers of Central Texas was gathered unto the Father. William Edward (Ed) Fry, 92, was born Jan. 30, 1883, in the Council Creek community of western Burnet County, the son of Aaron Carlysle Fry and Melissa King Fry, pioneer citizens of Burnet County. The Fry families had come to early Burnet County in 1855 from Warsaw, lll., and spent Christmas Day of that year at old Fort Croghan at Burnet before settling on Council Creek the next year. They were early advocates of the "ancient order of things" and brought a staunch faith with them to their new home. It was in this Christian home that Brother Fry was reared along with ten other children, and was taught the Bible from childhood by his godly parents. He chose as a life's companion the former Miss Nellie Frazier of Burnet, who preceded him in death in 1972. Brother Fry preached his first gospel sermon in 1900 and continued preaching the gospel for 75 years among the churches of Christ throughout Texas, having served congregations in Burnet, Levelland, Kerrville, Dilboll, and Lake Victor as well as preaching in numerous gospel meetings throughout the state. Funeral services were held Jan. 4 in the meeting house of the Burnet church with Jess Hall and Morris Kemper officiating and the songs led by Darrell Debo, all as requested by Brother Fry. Additional services were held the following day in Conroe, a former home, with burial in Conroe Memorial Park. Survivors include three sons, Roy Fry of Fulton, Ark., Aaron Fry of Amarillo, and Douglas Fry of Abilene; a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Mae Morgan of Burnet; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Frazier of Waco and Mrs. Mary Dodd of Burnet; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.-Darrell Delbo. Firm Foundation, March 23, 1976, 14 (190).
