Douglas Mackay Weems II passed at home early on the morning of May 16th due to complications related to leukemia. He was born to Elijah Jason and Mary Heyward Weems on May 1, 1938 in Warwick, GA.

He graduated from College Park High School and Georgia State University and worked for the Georgia State D.O.T. for 34 years. His passions included tending his peach orchard that drew acclaim from buyers all around Georgia. In retirement, he was able to develop his passion for art and spend time with his seven grandchildren, whom he adored.

He is survived by his wife, Hilda, to whom he celebrated his 50th wedding anniversary on June 15th, 2008. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur Heyward Weems; children, Ginger Criswell, Michele Anderson, Douglas Weems and Margaret Weems; grandchildren, Nathan, Sam, Abby, Annie-Cate, Mariel, Jonah and Eli.
