Edward Conally Holbrook, age 88, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Hartwell Healthcare Center.
Born June 17, 1924, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Thadeus and Atha Lena (Conally) Holbrook. He was a veteran of the US Navy and a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church and the American Legion. He retired as a truck driver with Franklin County Roads and Drainage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Elnorie (Whitworth) Holbrook; and a brother: Robert "Bob" Holbrook.
He is survived by his sisters: Betty Hall of Alpharetta, Ga. and Macie Sewell of Decatur, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Charles Holland officiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Poplar Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 67 Poplar Springs Church Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
