Mary Di Salvo Sciabica Gutshall, age 90, died Sunday, February 6, 2005, at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Girard where she had resided for the past two years following several weeks of illness. She had lived most of her life in Lake City, Pa. before moving to Cambridge Springs in 1984. Born in Lake City, Pa. on December 6, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Ross Di Salvo and Anita Rinella Di Salvo. Her first husband, Samuel Sciabica, whom she married in 1936, died in 1969. She subsequently married Melvin E. Gutshall on April 23, 1986, and he died on Sep. 24, 1987. Always a homemaker, she was active with the Cambridge Springs Senior Center while living in Cambridge Springs. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles and knitting. She is survived by two daughters: Anita Maher of Girard, Pa. and Carol Tirpak and her husband, Michael of Cambridge Springs. Also 11 grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. In addition to her two former husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Roseann Robison in 1975. Also two brothers: Dominick Di Salvo and Anthony Di Salvo and four sisters: Lena Giardina, Addie Bush, Josephine La Scola, and Rose Sunseri. Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church, 1001 Main Street, Girard, PA on Thursday at 10:00. Reverend Bill O'Brien, pastor of the Church will serve as celebrant. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery.
