"Sarah Elizabeth was one of 9 children of John Coe, Confederate Civil War veteran, and his wife Elsie Anne Clark. After the Civil War ended, her parents lived at St. Joseph, MO., where the first five children, including Sarah, were born. When Sarah was just seven years old, the family moved west to California, first living in the Donner Lake area of the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains, and later moving to Rocklin, Placer County. Four more siblings were born in the Coe family in Rocklin. Her father died in 1881 when Sarah was just 13 years old. She grew up in the little town of Rocklin, later marrying Frank Crosby. They were the parents of a daughter named Hazel. She died young and is buried with her father and brothers in the Coe family plot (B-3) at Rocklin Cemetery." V. Vine
