Came to the USA in 1927 as a student with his wife and chose to remain when the spurious environmental doctrines of Stalin's pet geneticist, T.D. Lysenko, became Communist dogma. His work at various American universities and research institutes earned world acclaim. His book Genetics and the Origin of Species (1937) was the first significant synthesis of Darwinian evolutionary theory and Mendelian genetics and his Mankind Evolving (1962) greatly influenced anthropologists. He published almost 600 works, including more than a dozen books. Cause of death: heart attack, in San Jacinto, California.
