Evaristo "Chet" Arronte, 89, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Jan. 22, 2013. He was born Aug. 29, 1923, in Delagua, Colo., to Adelmo and Guadalupe Arronte, both from Spain.
Chet was the second of four children and was preceded in death by his sisters, Avelina and Louisa; and his brother, Adelmo. Also, his wife, Della Mae, passed to heaven in 1982.
He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater as a medic. Further, he was a veteran of the Korean War and served in logistics. The lessons he learned from the military, such as a strong work ethic, honesty, and integrity, he passed to his sons, Brent and Larry.
Chet spent the last two years of his life with his son, Brent, in Tampa, Fla. He spent time at Clearwater Beach and enjoyed the animal park at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Prior to this, Chet was a lifelong resident of Miami, Ariz., a graduate of Miami High School, and a true Miami Vandal.
He spent most of his adult life as a miner in the copper industry and worked at the Pinto Valley and Bluebird mines.
Chet was an awesome father, always coaching youth sports and supporting his children in all of their endeavors. You could find him having breakfast every morning at Judy's Cookhouse. Chet always put others first and gave of himself unconditionally.
He is survived by his two sons, Brent and Larry; four grandchildren, Brent Jr., Christina, Aaron, and Sabrina; and four great grandchildren, Alexandrea, Alicia, Kreece, and Owen.
