Brian F. Weir, 62, of Rockland, formerly of Whitman, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 29, surrounded by his family in South Shore Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Conley) Weir. Brian was the son of the late James M. and Helen (Kelly) Weir and was a lifelong resident of Whitman before moving to Rockland a year ago. After high school, he served in the Merchant Marines and also with the U.S. Army. Brian returned to Whitman in 1982 after military service and worked as an IT technician for Wang Labs and also worked for Arbella Insurance Company before retiring. He enjoyed playing pool, golf, taking trips on his motorcycle and especially walking his dog Weiser. In addition to his wife Karen, he is survived by his two sons, Daniel J. Weir and his wife Michelle of West Bridgewater, Brian Weir and his girlfriend Kelly Shannon of Whitman; his stepchildren, Cayla and Stephen Newman; his brother, James Weir and his wife Janet of Onset; his two grandchildren, Braelyn and Ethan Weir; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Bruce Weir, Mary Johansen and Sandra Lambert. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, Feb. 1, from 4-8 p.m. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 at the rotary circle), Whitman. His funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. in the chapel. Donations may be made in his name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
