Ian M. Parker passed away at 84 years of age on January 26, 2013 surrounded by his family.

Ian was born in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan and earned an engineering degree from the University of Manitoba in 1953 before moving to Edmonton, where he met his future wife Joan. He had a successful career in the oil and gas industry beginning with Imperial Oil, then Canadian Superior and retiring from Mobil Oil in Calgary, where he led a long happy life, often visiting Arizona in winter, with his wife, Joan.

Ian was endlessly proud of his family and his friendliness, tireless energy and positive nature made him well liked by everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife Joan and will be lovingly remembered by his children, Susan (Fons) of St. Albert, Steven (Leslie) of Hong Kong, Robert (Mary) of Calgary and Janice (Tom) of Calgary and the ten grandchildren who brought him so much joy: Michael, Jennifer, Alexandra, Sabrina, Harper, Thomas, Brandon, Ian, Sam and Christopher. He is also survived by his sisters Jeanne Garland and Rae Parker of Edmonton and brother Glenn Parker of Calgary. Ian was predeceased by his brother Don Parker of Regina.
