Ray Aaron Stafford, 87 of Friendship Church Road, Taylorsville, died Saturday December 11, 2010 at Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley. He was born in Alexander County, September 7, 1923 son of the late Jacob Luther Stafford and Mary Ethel Hammer Stafford.
He was retired from Century Furniture Company and a lifelong member of Friendship Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during World War II.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Mary Lou Bowman and Lily Mae Bowman; brothers James W. Stafford, Kermit Stafford, Marvin Stafford and Wayne Stafford.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years and 10 months Juanita Bowman Stafford; a daughter Patsy Daniels and husband John (J.N,) of Taylorsville; a son Ray Allan Stafford of Sparta; a sister Lucy Bell Hines and husband Elbert of Taylorsville; grandchildren Sharon Daniels, Renee Oxentine and husband Daniel, and Cody Stafford all of Taylorsville, and Connie Daniels and Will Agee of Southaven Mississippi; great grandchildren Caitlan Bowman, Jonathan Oxentine and Joshua Bowman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at Friendship Lutheran Church. The Revs. Todd Rauscher and Phil Thornsen will officiate. Burial with Military Honors by DAV Chapter # 84 of Taylorsville, will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Friendship Lutheran Church, on Monday from 6 until 8 pm and at other times will assemble at the residence.
Pallbearers will be Cody Stafford, Joshua Bowman, Jonathan Oxentine, Jerry Bowman, Shannon Stafford, Tracy Wike and Derek Stafford.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658, or to the Friendship Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 5300 Church Road, Taylorsville, NC 28681.
