Fred D. "Bamm-Bamm" Malone, 56, of Elizabethtown died at 1:05 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2005, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Mr. Malone was a 1967 graduate of North Vernon High School; served in the U.S. Army from June 2, 1967 to June 1,1970. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Sharpshooters Badge. He was employed at Cummins Inc. for 31 years, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Jennings County Red Cross and enjoyed playing Yahtzee, fishing, CB radio and collecting frog memorabilia.
The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 31, at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Stough officiating. Calling is from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at Scipio Cemetery with military graveside rites by North Vernon Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Born June 29, 1948, in Seymour, Mr. Malone was the son of Fred A. Malone Jr. and Rosemary Brooks Malone. He married Linda Sexton on October 12, 1969, at Rock Creek United Methodist Church in Jennings County.
Surviving are his wife; his mother, of Paris Crossing; a son, Scott Malone of Elizabethtown; daughters, Carrie Malone and Betsy Malone, both of Elizabethtown, brothers, David Malone of Seymour, Michael Malone of Freetown, James Malone of Cortland and Terry Malone of Paris Crossing; a sister, Katrinka Cottongim of Seymour; and grandchildren, Sean and Nathan Staples, both of Butlerville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
