Zoe Gottlund, a resident of the Monterey Peninsula for 46 years, died on Wednesday evening at her home at 667 Laurel Ave. in Pacific Grove. She had been in failing health for a long time.

Mrs. Gottlund had been a self-employed embroiderer for the past 35 years. She was born in Odessa, Russia, on July 27, 1886, and was one of the last ladies-in-waiting to the Czarina before the Revolution. She escaped through Siberia and came to the Peninsula. She worked in the canneries on Cannery Row before starting her career as an embroiderer.

She is survived by three sons, Walter W. Gottlund of Marysville, John G. Gottlund of Durham[,] and Platon Gottlund of Kutztown, Pa.; a daughter, Mary Abbott of Taos, N.M.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Little Chapel-by-the-Sea in Pacific Grove, with the Rev. C.E. Wilson of Robert Louis Stevenson School officiating.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the donor's favorite charity. The Paul Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
