Harry W. Alexander, 52, a lifelong resident of this community, died at 12:13
Monday morning at the Veterans hospital in Dwight to which he had been taken
Sunday following a heart attack.
Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Canaday
chapel with the Rev. Earl Livengood of Grant Park officiating. Burial was made,
with the American Legion assisting, in Momence cemetery.
The deceased was born in Momence August 22, 1892, the son of Scott and Julia
Taylor Alexander.
A veteran of World War I, he enlisted in the service on June 25, 1918. He served
in the heavy artillery division with the headquarters division 333, and was
honorably discharged on Jan. 19, 1919.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his widow, the former Luelle Eighney; three sons,
Richard who was a prisoner of war in Germany when last heard from, Harry who is
with the Marine Corps in the Pacific, and Jack of DeKalb; his mother, Mrs. Julia
Alexander of Momence; and three sisters, Mrs. Florence Claridge of St. Louis,
Mo., Mrs. Helen Robertson of Indianapolis, Ind., and Mrs. Jessie Storm of
Brownstown, Illinois.
