Robert "Bob" Vernas Pack, age 86, completed his journey on earth and passed away surrounded by his family on January 28, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

He was born May 31, 1926, in Shelley, Idaho, to Don & Retta Day Pack. His early childhood was spent in Shelley until the family moved to their home on River Road in Idaho Falls where he helped on the family dairy farm.

Bob had a deep love of farming and had a small farm for a hobby one mile north of the family farm. Bob served in the Armed Forces as a Medic during World War II and the Post War years. He worked for 35 years as a waste calciner operator for what is now known as INL.

He married Edith Elaine Pack on September 14, 1948 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Their marriage was made eternal in the Idaho Falls Temple August 5, 1955. They were the parents of 5 children. After the passing of Elaine in 1984, Bob met Eva Metcalf and later married her in October 1986. After Eva passed away in 2007, Bob continued living independently in Coltman. In 2011, he moved to Lincoln Court in Idaho Falls.

Bob served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in various callings such as Stake Missionary, Ward Clerk, home teacher and was one of the Seven Presidents of the Stake Quorum of Seventies in the Idaho Falls East Stake. Bob and Eva served a full time mission in the Oklahoma, Tulsa Mission. Bob had a great love for the Temple. He served as a temple worker and attended regularly until the time of his passing.

He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Robert) Eborn, Debbie (Paul) Markham, Darrel (Ellie) Pack, Laura Pack, a daughter-in-law, Kathy Hemmert, a brother, Keith (Marva) Pack, 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Retta Pack; his wife, Elaine Pack, a son, David Pack, his wife, Eva Pack, brothers: Donald Pack and Dean Pack and a sister, Bonnie Olson.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2013, at the Coltman LDS 2nd Ward Chapel, 12448 N. 5th East with counselor, Brad Colling officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013, at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St., Idaho Falls and Saturday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Grant Cemetery with military rites by the Bonneville County Veterans Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
