  • Death 15 Jul 1962 Fredericktown, Madison County, Missouri, USA
  • Burial Fredericktown, Madison County, Missouri, USA

Roy, my paternal great-uncle, was the 2nd of 7 children born to Lafayette and Alice Louisiana Love Alcorn. His siblings were: Lola Alcorn Buntin, Clyde S., Scott Lee, Ora, Myrtle (died as either an infant or toddler), and Loven (also died as either an infant or toddler).

Roy was married first to Alma, then married Thelma Queen in Clay Co., Arkansas on February 1, 1926. He and Thelma had 2 children: Denys Love and Dorothy J.

He was a veteran of WWI and served with Co. A, 13th Engineers Railway Service in Europe during this conflict. The July 25, 1918 edition of the Current Local newspaper of Van Buren, Carter County, MO has information about Roy's voyage by ship to Europe. It also includes details of a letter he sent to his brother, Scott, (my grandfather) in 1918 regarding his ship encountering an enemy submarine during their voyage. It is definitely a very interesting read.
