He settled in what became Washington state and also California. He married Helen E. Light, daughter of Harvey Light, on Feb. 18, 1869 in Salt Point Township, Sonoma Co, CA. To this union, 3 children were born: Cora Shone, and an unknown boy and an unknown girl. Edward was an innkeeper and a farmer. He died at the age of 68 and his death certificate is filed in Alameda County.
