Passed away suddenly but peacefully at St. Clare's Hospital on July 29, 2008, John R. Bradley, age 84 years, of Bonavista. Predeceased by his father and mother, F. Gordon Bradley and Ethel Louise (Roper) Bradley. Leaving to mourn his wife, Sylvia (Hunt) Bradley, son John (Lisa) of Cold Lake, Alberta, and daughter Jennifer (Paul) of Flatrock. Also survived by his brother Gordon (Marjorie) of Bonavista, and nephew David (Paula) of St. John's, and a host of other relatives and friends made over a long life. Resting at Strathie's Funeral Home, Bonavista, Wednesday, July 30, 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, July 31, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place from Memorial United Church, Bonavista, on Friday, August 1, at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the United Church (Lookout) Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his memory to the SPCA, Clarenville or to the Garrick Theatre Capital Campaign, Bonavista. John built the Garrick in 1945 and operated it for more than 50 years. In 2003 he and his family donated the facility to the community, and it is currently undergoing an extensive redevelopment. Please make any donation to the Garrick in the name of the Town of Bonavista, in memory of John R. Bradley, c/o Bonavista Historic Townscape Foundation, P.O. Box 10, Bonavista, N.L., A0C 1B0.
