Harry L. Davis, Jr. age 89 a life long resident of Boerne passed away on January 22, 2005. Harry was born and raised in Kendall County, attended schools here and graduated in 1938 with a law degree from what is now St. Mary's School of Law. Was a partner in Davis Insurance Agency and H.L. Davis and Son Managing General Agency of Boerne and San Antonio until 1957, when upon the death of H.L. Davis, he became the owner. He sold Davis Insurance Agency in 1993, after it's 78th anniversary of business. He was active in that Agency for over 60 years.A Philanthropist, Precinct Judge, (the youngest in Texas History at age 20), A member of Texas Legislature two terms having been elected on a "write in basis" in 1942, meaning his opponents name had to be struck out and his written into the ballot by each voter in the four county districts, only one in Texas History.A Charter member of the Chamber of Commerce for over 60 years, received honor of being awarded Plaque as outstanding chamber member in 1984.A member of the First United Methodist Church for over 80 years, having been Board Chairman, Lay Leader, Board Member and Building Committee.Harry was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Kendall Lodge #367, officer of the Alzafar Shrine, past President of Boerne Shrine Club, past President and Charter member of the Boerne Lions Club and various other clubs, such as: Scouter, Cancer Society worker, Family Services and other organizations, long time Bank Director, Property Owner and Developer of Land. Took pride in helping the youth, their education and character through volunteer work.A visitation for Harry will be Tuesday January 25, 2005 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Vaughan's Funeral Home 319 E. San Antonio St. in Boerne. A Funeral Service celebrating Harry's life will be Wednesday January 26 11:00 A.M. at First United Methodist Church 205 James St.in Boerne. Interment will follow in the Boerne Cemetery.In lieu of flowers all memorial contributions can be made to the Theissen House Building Fund, c/o First United Methodist Church 205 James St. Boerne, Texas 78006.
