June was born June 24, 1929 in Wyndotte, OK. to Tobe Davis and Alice "Coleman" Davis.
June was a longtime Carthage resident. She was a homemaker. June was baptized 4 years ago into the Christian faith.
June was united in marriage to Harold Simmons, he preceeded herin death on June 1993.
June is survived by five daughters Judy Norton and husband Wally of Lamar, MO Carol Smythia of Carthage, MO Linda Cook and husband Ed of Lamar, Judy Jean Silkwood of Braymer, MO and Duke Patton of Ohio.
Three sons Gene Backerman and wife Becky of Lamar, MO, Jim Backerman and wife Bev of Huntsville, AR and Lester Wyrick of Carl Junction, MO. One brother Don Davis of Joplin and two sisters Velma Collins of Joplin and Laureen Dimatteo, of Joplin. Twenty four grandchildren, forty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
June was preceeded by three sons Fred Simmons, Steve Simmons and Gary Simmons. Five brothers Walter, Ervin, Elmer, Perry Bobby and one sister Opal.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday January 30, 2013 at Fasken Cemetery east of Carthage. Online condolences may be made at www.ulmerfh.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Ulmer Funeral Home.
