Reba Butler Comer Ward, 92, formerly of Hazlehurst, died on January 26, 2013, in Foley, Alabama. Visitation will be at 9 am with services at 10 am Tuesday January 29, at Stringer Family Chapel with interment in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.

Reba was born on October 18, 1920, in Copiah County to Johnnie E. and Minnie Carpenter Butler. She graduated from Wesson High School and Copiah-Lincoln Junior College. She co-owned the Hub Grill Restaurant in Hazlehurst for many years.

Reba was a long-time member of the Hazlehurst United Methodist Church and the Hazlehurst Garden Club. She was a talented cook, seamstress, and gardener.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Charlton Comer, her second husband Charlie Ward, her siblings Dean Butler and Opal Shaw, and her son-in-law Don Nevels.

Survivors include: her daughter, Sandra Nevels of Foley, AL; her son, Drew Comer (April) of Lookout Mountain, TN; her granddaughters, Stacey Nevels of Brookhaven and Kelly Herrington (Marc) of Brandon; her great grandchildren Cooper and Cambell Herrington of Brandon; her brother Johnnie E. Butler, Jr. of Orange, FL; and, her sisters Annelle Boyd of Chester, VA, and Clarice Schmidt, of San Diego, CA.

Memorials may be made to the Hazlehurst United Methodist Church Building Fund or a preferred charity.
