Mrs. Geneese Floyd Lewis, 82, of 3664 Royston Highway, Hartwell, died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Born on October 3, 1930 in Royston, GA, she was the daughter of the late Aaron Floyd and Gertie Thompson Floyd. She was a homemaker, member of Bethany Baptist Church, and a member of the Senior Ladies Joyful Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her two daughters: Janice David and her husband James of Hartwell, Barbara Berkowitz and her husband Mark of Hoschton, GA; four grandchildren: Ashlie Levac and her husband David, Chad Moore and his wife Meredith, Martin Brown, and Melanie Jenkins and her husband Chad; and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Lewis; two sisters: Martha Bagwell, Pauline Vaughn; and seven brothers: Turner Floyd, J.B. Floyd, Jasper Floyd, Jo Frank Floyd, Aaron Floyd, Jr., Tom Ed Floyd, and Harold Floyd.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jerry Durham and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. The family is at the home of James and Janice David, 174 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Hartwell, GA. Flowers optional, or memorials may be made to Bethany-Baptist Church, 2085 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon, GA 30520.
