Obituary
The sudden and unexpected death of Mrs. Susan Wakefield, mother of Mr. B. C. Howard master mechanic of the U.P. shops, occurred last evening about 9 o'clock. Susan N. Cleveland was born at Worcester, Mass., February 26th 1807, being in her 78th year. She was married to her first husband Mr. D. D. Howard, April 6th, 1828, and whose death occurred in New York state in 1849. On the marriage of her son she left to live with him in Ills., where in 1858 she met and wed Mr. A. Wakefield, at DeWitt, Ill., residing with her husband there until the occurrence of his death last May. She then moved to Grand Island and took up her residence with the family of her son, Mr. B. C. Howard, who is the only surviving child of a family of seven. the deceased is said to have been a thoroughly christian lady, of exemplary character, whose many kindnesses through a long life of usefulness will be cherished in memory by those who knew her best and loved her for her goodness of heart. She had been sick but about three days previous to the death summons, and her sudden demise has cast another cloud of sorrow o'er the family circle—this being the third member that has passed away during the present year. time of the funeral services will be announced to-morrow.
