Born on February 24, 1933 in Quincy a the son of Ralph C. and Anna (Kearney) Maxwell, Ralph first married Shirley Albright, then later married Phyllis Fuhrman on May 5, 1982 in Taylor, Missouri; she survives.
Mr. Maxwell graduated from St. Francis Grade School and Quincy High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1953 - 1961. He attended Machinist School in Rock Island, IL and worked for Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1985. He was then employed by Quincy Country Club in maintenance until he became ill.
He was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church and St. Elizabeth Fraternity Secular Franciscans. He was a former member of the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) and Austin's Army at St. Francis Parish.
Ralph enjoyed flying his ultralight with his brothers Charles and John. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Ralph is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Paul, Charles and Robert Maxwell, one sister Marguerite Maxwell, and one grandchild Bobby Joe Fuhrman.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery
Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home with a Secular Franciscan service at 5:30 P.M.
